Coronation Street murderer Rob Donovan is set to have a steamy affair with a prison officer in an upcoming storyline - reportedly a nod to a real-life incident which went viral
A Coronation Street killer is set to have a new steamy storyline, echoing a real-life affair which went viral and saw a prison officer jailed for their part in the incident.
Rob Donovan, played by Marc Baylis, is behind bars at Weatherfield’s Highfield Prison after murdering Tina McIntyre, played by Michelle Keegan, in 2014. He will now become involved with prison officer Mandy, played by Shameless star Rebecca Atkinson, echoing the real-life trysts of Linda De Sousa Abreu.
The prison officer was jailed for 15 months after a clip of her being involved sexually with a prisoner in HMP Wandsworth went viral. Now soap bosses have decided to bring a steamy affair to the Weatherfield prison, causing a commotion on the cobbles.

A TV source told The Sun that the upcoming storyline is set to spice up the onscreen antics. They said: “This is going to be one hell of a saucy storyline. Rebecca and Rob will be seen enjoying secret romps in his prison cell like prison officer Linda De Sousa Abreu.
“Viewers will have to wait and see whether or not Mandy gets caught by prison bosses. It’s a bit of a cheeky nod to the footage that went viral online last year and is a much-needed risqué plotline.”
Meanwhile, last week saw the killer reunited with his sister Carla Connor for the first time in years, with her visiting him in prison. Carla had refused to see her sibling, but Rob’s son Bobby urged her to reconsider so that she could see for herself that he was a changed man.

Rob had claimed to son Bobby that he had found religion and wasn’t who he used to be. Claiming to be turning his life around, he even agreed to be a kidney donor for his sick sister Carla, which she struggled with. Rob gave Carla the same claims of how he was a different person.
Fans believe he has no intention of helping Carla and is instead looking for a way to escape prison. One fan posted: “Anyone else think Rob is planning to escape from the hospital and has no intention of donating a kidney to Carla?” Another agreed: “So many people have said this so yes,” as a third said: “Absolutely that’s why he had to set Bobby up to convince her.”
