Lauren’s verdict finally revealed with her Coronation Street future sealed
Coronation Street has finally revealed the verdict for Lauren Bolton’s (Cait Fitton) trial, after several dramatic turns of events in the courtroom.
Lauren was on trial for the murder of Joel Deering, after she hit him over the head with a rock to stop him from strangling Max Turner (Paddy Beaver).
Though Roy Cropper (David Neilson) started things off on a positive note by giving Lauren a glowing character reference, things soon took a turn for the worse when fellow prison inmate Brie announced that Lauren had attacked her.
With tensions high, Lauren and Max both snapped at the prosecution barrister, before Lauren left the court altogether to be with son Frankie, who had been rushed to hospital.
Thankfully, Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) managed to turn things round when she uncovered Brie’s plot, and revealed to the court that Joel’s dad Gus had paid her to lie.
Defence barrister Moya then made a powerful closing statement, urging the jury to find Lauren not guilty because she acted in self-defence, before they was sent away to deliberate.
However, when they returned, they had been unable to reach a unanimous verdict, and were sent away again to come to a majority decision.
As they deliberated, Dee-Dee paid Lauren a visit at the hospital, and encouraged her to attend court to receive the verdict.
She had certainly made the right decision when the jury announced that she was not guilty, and she was told she was free to go.
With Joel’s murder behind her, Lauren must now turn her attention back to her future with Frankie – something that Gus was keen to put a stop to.
However, Lauren made it very clear that she wouldn’t let Frankie be taken into his care – will she be able to keep him with her?
