This article contains spoilers for tonight’s Coronation Street, which has not yet aired on TV but is available to watch now on ITVX.

Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) got some devastating news in tonight’s Coronation Street when Julie Carp (Katy Cavanagh) revealed that she has stage four cancer.

Todd bumped into his aunty Julie at the Chariot Square Hotel in last week’s episodes, and was thrilled to see her.

However, it soon became clear that she was hiding a big secret.

In an emotional scene, she revealed to Todd that it was sarcoma, and had started in the soft tissue around her stomach before spreading to her liver and lungs.

Devastatingly, she admitted that she didn’t have long left to live, with doctors having informed her that she would be lucky to make it to the summer.

She explained that she was meeting with specialists in the hopes that they could offer treatment to prolong her life, which was why she was back in Manchester.

Todd was shocked by the news, but even more so when Julie insisted that she didn’t want sister Eileen Grimshaw (Sue Cleaver) to know the truth.

Will Todd keep his promise and hide the truth from his mum?

In upcoming scenes, Todd and George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley) attempt to convince Julie to let Eileen in on her secret, but will she be persuaded?

Speaking about her return to the soap, actress Katy Cavanagh previously said: ‘It felt good to be asked to be part of Eileen’s departure story it is perfect to come and have some closure on Julie and Eileen, to kind of revisit her.

‘And there was such a lovely vibe between Julie and Eileen. We are having a lot of fun together. Sue and I go back to my very first job on The Cops so it is a full circle moment.’
