Carla makes a big decision but more danger follows in Coronation Street
Carla Connor (Alison King) is set to make a big decision in upcoming Coronation Street scenes after a dramatic few months.
Since the beginning of 2025, Carla has been in and out of hospital, having contracted sepsis and suffered irreversible damage to her kidney.
In recent weeks, she has undergone a transplant to save her life – though it wasn’t as straightforward as she’d hoped.
The donor kidney came from killer brother Rob Donovan (Marc Baylis), who had no intention of actually giving her the organ when he agreed to donate.
Instead, he planned to use the hospital trip as a means to escape prison, until his plan was rumbled by DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers).
In a bid to get him into the operating theatre to save Carla’s life, Lisa told Rob she would be able to get his conviction overturned so that he could be a free man.
However, after the surgery was complete, she revealed that she had no intention of helping him and was happy to see him rot in prison for what he’d done to Tina McIntyre.
Determined not to go back inside, Rob took drastic action by kidnapping Carla and Lisa and attempting to extort money from them.
When Lisa tried to call for help, Rob knocked her unconscious, before gloating to Carla about his actions.
Devastated Carla ended up lashing out and pushing Rob down the stairs, before Lisa came to her rescue, rushing her to hospital after pronouncing Rob dead.
However, it seemed her assessment of his injuries had been inaccurate when DC Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) later informed her that Rob had survived the fall and fled the scene.
Back in hospital, Carla was left battling an infection, but doctors were hopeful she would make a full recovery.
In upcoming scenes, she is determined to get things back to normal as quickly as possible, and makes the decision to go back to work.
When Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin) draws her attention to a report suggesting that a man presumed to be Rob has been spotted in the Brighton area, Carla is hopeful that she has seen the back of him.
However, she is left on edge when she returns home to find the door to her flat open and signs of a break-in inside.
As a new spoiler clip reveals, Lisa returns home to find the place ransacked, with Carla clearly rattled by the situation.
Ever in detective mode, Lisa warns Carla not to touch anything, but her girlfriend insists it is too late, as her cash and painkillers have been taken.
Is this an unfortunate but unrelated incident, or is Rob closer to home than anyone expected?
As Lisa questions why Rob would risk coming back to Weatherfield with the whole police force on his trail, Carla refuses to sit and wait, instead going in search of answers herself.
Will she get to the bottom of it?
