Coronation Street star ‘taking break from ITV soap’ to go on Celebrity Big Brother
A Coronation Street actor is reportedly set to compete on this year’s series of Celebrity Big Brother, while his character faces a dramatic storyline on the soap.
There isn’t long to go until one of the most popular reality shows on TV makes a return to ITV.
Despite it coming back this month, the cast hasn’t been officially confirmed… but of course, that hasn’t stopped the rumour mill from churning.
Last year’s line-up included the likes of Sharon Osbourne, Louis Walsh and Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu – and now, it’s been claimed that Corrie’s Jack P Shepherd will be entering the House for the 2025 season.
According to an insider, the 37-year-old – who’s played David Platt on the soap since 2000 – will be competing while he takes a break from his regular role.
The source claimed that Jack has gone to his Corrie co-star Colson Smith, 26, for advice, after the latter went on Celebrity Big Brother last year.
‘The two lads are great mates, and Colson no doubt told Jack he’d have the time of his life on the show,’ they told The Sun.
‘Jack will be making the most of a gap in appearing on Corrie, which comes as he’s about to be at the centre of a huge storyline on the ITV soap.’
A Celebrity Big Brother spokesperson said in a statement sent to Metro: ‘Any names suggested for Celebrity Big Brother are purely speculation.’
It’s been claimed that the actor’s character David – the son of Gail Platt (Helen Worth) – ‘will be seen getting left for dead after being hit by a car on the cobbles’.
However, it will turn out that this was ‘actually a bizarre attempt to end his own life’.
Aside from Corrie, Colson and Jack also work together on the soap-themed podcast On The Sofa, alongside their co-star Ben Price.
In July, Jack and his girlfriend Hanni Treweek announced that they were engaged, after meeting on Coronation Street, where she worked as a script writer.
The actor has two children from his former relationship with Lauren Shippey, who he was with for 15 years from 2002 until 2017.
He also has a third child with Sammy Milewski, who was born in 2011.
