Coronation Street ‘reveals’ Kit’s real father in Platt twist – and David will be floored
Bent copper Kit (Jacob Roberts) made his cobbles debut last year, as Bernie Winter’s (Jane Hazlegrove) long-lost child. Soap favourite Bernie gave up a Christopher ‘Kit’ Green for adoption almost thirty years ago.
She eventually tracked him down – and at first, he didn’t want anything to do with her. Meanwhile, Bernie’s twins Gemma (Dolly-Rose Campbell) and Paul (Peter Ash) were left stunned to find out they had another brother.
Since then, Kit has become a regular on the cobbles and has caused plenty of drama – including sleeping with Shona Platt (Julia Goulding), doing plenty of dodgy dealings at work and finding himself involved in a ‘who’s the daddy’ twist with Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan).
However, last week, Daisy ended up losing her baby following a hit and run that David Platt (Jack P. Shepherd) orchestrated as he planned to get himself killed in order to use his life insurance to pay back the debts he owes.
In Wednesday’s episode (March 12) though, Kit found out all about David’s stunt that killed Kit’s unborn child. After originally taking him to the police station, Kit then sped away and drove onto a waste ground, where tensions exploded as Kit dragged David from the car.
In a rare moment from Kit though, he spoke to David about what he had put his family through, amid his money troubles. Opening up, Kit made David reflect on his actions.
Kit said: “I bet you didn’t think about how they would feel your kids. Being left alone. But no, as long as you didn’t feel guilty.
“Not only does he [David] ruin everything he touches, he then decides to drag them all through that and kill himself. Run away and leave with them with all that pain and grief.”
However, fans can’t help but think that Kit was talking from experience, when chatting to David and that his own biological dad committed suicide. What’s more, other viewers are certain his biological father is a cobbles villain.
“So I definitely think Kit’s father committed suicide,” said one person on a Corrie Facebook fan page. Someone else chimed in and agreed: “Yeah something doesn’t seem right.”
And other fans claim serial killer Richard Hillman (Brian Capron) could be Kit’s real dad. As viewers will recall Richard was one of the soap’s most notorious killers – who was married to Gail Platt (Helen Worth).
In an iconic, albeit terrifying, scene from 2003, Richard tied the Platts in the car before gassing them. He then drove them into the canal – but he was the only one who met his watery end.
But now, fans are predicting a DNA twist is in store. A viewer mused: “I’ve been saying for months that Kit’s dad is Richard Hilman! Both psychos.” Another penned: “You could be onto something… Kit might not know the full story about him or how he died.”
A third wrote: “I wasn’t expecting that wild theory but I could see it work tbh.” Someone else chimed in: “Exactly, we didn’t know much about Richard until he arrived.”
