Life is getting darker for Roy Cropper (David Neilson) in Coronation Street as he’s put right in the centre of the investigation into Lauren Bolton’s (Cait Fitton) apparent murder.

Recently in the ITV soap, it was confirmed DS Swain (Vicky Myers) is treating Lauren’s disappearance as a murder due to the blood found in her flat, and the odd way she vanished into thin air.

As the case opened and got underway, DS Swain and Craig (Colson Smith) headed to the café to speak with Roy, one of the last people to have seen the troubled young woman.

Roy was open and honest with the police officers, but it turned out to be a mistake. Due to the fact he told the complete truth about cleaning Lauren’s flat, washing her clothes and looking out for her, Swain started to grow suspicious and questioned whether Roy’s motives were entirely legit.

This, the discovery Lauren once propositioned Roy, and other factors led Swain to arresting the café owner yesterday – a move that left many Weatherfield residents stunned.

In this new video, Nina (Mollie Gallagher) heads off and leaves Roy in the cafe.

As he chats to Chesney (Sam Aston), Roy fails to realise two men sitting near him are acting strangely.

Chesney then tells Roy he needs to leave and dashes out, leaving a man to get up, lock the door, and put Roy in terrible danger.

But who are the two men, and what will they do to Roy?

Discussing the scenes, David Neilson said Roy is ‘frightened’, adding that the character cannot understand why the heavies are coming for him. ‘It is almost like an intellectual thing,’ he said. ‘Roy would never dream of doing what they are doing so he doesn’t understand what is going on.

‘He does feel like it is the beginning of something. He’s hoping it’s not but it’s sort of a build up of something. And everything he does or says is being misinterpreted and he doesn’t really have a voice. He’s got the police against him and the mob are against him.

‘He’s trying to work out what to do and he says he’s not going to be a prisoner in his own home. And the way his brain works he would say “Well, what can they do to me?” I don’t think he’s got that sort of physical fear. But it’s upsetting to him that human beings could do this.’
