David’s rage at Sarah’s choice of man explodes in Coronation Street

David and Sarah on the cobbles in Corrie

There’s a shock coming up for David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) in Coronation Street soon when he and Shona (Julia Goulding) get back from visiting Gail (Helen Worth) in France. They’re just in time to see Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) emerging from the bathroom in Sarah (Tina O’Brien)’s flat – wearing nothing but a towel.

Of course that’s nothing that Shona hasn’t seen before, which partly explains David’s reaction to the sight. Basically, he’s not best pleased that Kit is his sister Sarah’s latest boyfriend.

Shona and Kit had a brief fling before Christmas, with Julia Goulding stating that her character’s actions were purely down to getting revenge on David for the way he lied to her about her son Clayton (Callum Harrison), who is in prison.

‘I don’t think she’s necessarily been lusting after Kit, I don’t think he’s crossed her radar. She’s probably served him a couple of times in Roy’s Rolls, she’s very loyal – so it’s absolute revenge!’ Julia said.

When David discovered the affair – basically after Kit told him about it – he went for revenge and drove his car at the police officer. Kit then retaliated by setting Matty and Logan Radcliffe (Seamus McGoff and Harry Lowbridge) after David.

David and Kit’s feud has been going on for a while…

More recently there was a violent altercation between Kit and David when Kit discovered that David had planned his own death, arranging for a car to drive into him and kill him in an effort to clear the family’s debts to Harvey Gaskell (Will Mellor).

Daisy Midgeley was also hit by the car and, as a result, lost the baby she was expecting. Kit was the father, and he was furious that David’s selfish actions had caused the death of his child.

So there’s bad blood between Kit and David, to say the least, which makes the prospect of him sitting at the table for family meals less than appealing.

David makes his feelings absolutely clear to Sarah as he rants at her about her terrible taste in men. He does have a point, what with her previous boyfriend Damon Hay (Ciaran Griffiths) – brother of the aforementioned Harvey Gaskell – being a drug dealer who is currently in prison.

As David vents his anger, Kit’s temper rises and Sarah finds herself in between her furious brother and her angry boyfriend. Can she find a way to maintain the peace?

Or is the relationship with Kit doomed before it’s even had a chance to get going?
