Coronation Street fans were left in tears after Friday night’s episode, as the soap said goodbye to Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan) after five years on the cobbles.

Daisy’s exit came just as she was taking revenge on stepmother Jenny Connor, Sally’s character, over some money she had gained from shares given to her by Daisy’s dad. She kept the £60k windfall from Daisy at a time that they were both in debt to Carla Connor, sparking a revenge plan.

During tonight’s episode, Jenny was seen trying to persuade Daisy to say, as she responded: “It’s only Brighton, to start with anyway.” Daisy then went on to say her emotional goodbyes to Ryan Connor and Bertie and Daniel Osbourne.

Towards the end of the episode, Jenny and Christina came to the realisation that Daisy had left Weatherfield with Jenny’s money that she thought she was investing in catfisher Dom. “I didn’t think she had it in her,” her mother Christina laughed.

Jenny was then seen in tears running after the taxi, as she rang Daisy in tears screaming: “I should report you to the police! No one would blame me!”

Daisy’s voice was then heard reading a letter to some of the residents, including Bernie and Daniel as she bought them tickets to Disneyland Paris, as the song Movin’ On Up was heard playing in the background.

The character was then seen checking flights from Manchester to Bali at the back of the taxi, as she put her sunglasses on, telling the driver to “turn it up,” as fans hailed the exit “iconic”.

However, fans may be able to wipe their tears soon, as Charlotte revealed the door had been left open for her. She hinted she could be back, suggesting it wasn’t a “forever” farewell.

She said: “It’s a very special building, and I have loved it. And it’s just goodbye for now, not goodbye forever.” Charlotte also talked about her final day on set and filming her last ever scenes.
