Sad Coronation Street exit for Jenny as Carla makes a big decision

There are set to be some big changes ahead in Coronation Street as the Rovers Return comes under new management next week.

Viewers will know that the iconic boozer is currently on the market, much to the disappointment of current landlady Jenny Connor (Sally Ann Matthews).

Jenny’s downfall began when she used money stolen from Carla Connor (Alison King) to buy the pub alongside Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan).

Almost £250,000 had been stolen from the Underworld accounts by Stephen Reid, and when Jenny and Daisy stumbled across it, they decided to keep it for themselves and use it to keep hold of the Rovers.

It wasn’t long before Carla found out the truth and railed at the pair for their betrayal, insisting on being paid back.

Though the trio agreed on a payment plan, things escalated when Carla was forced to fork out for private health care to undergo another kidney transplant earlier this year.

With circumstances having dramatically changed, Carla demanded the money back in full. When the women failed to come through with the cash, Carla had no choice but to put the Rovers on the market.

Jenny was quick to ask Carla for first refusal, planning to apply for a business loan after inheriting £60,000 from shares in her name.

When Daisy learnt what Jenny was planning on doing behind her back, she sought revenge, and ran off with her cash after catfishing her alongside mum Christina Midgeley (Amy Robbins).

With nothing left, Jenny has been forced to accept that her time as the Rovers’ landlady is coming to an end.

In upcoming scenes, with potential buyers swarming the pub, Jenny decides to cut her losses and move on.

As Jenny packs her things and moves in with Rita Tanner (Barbara Knox) and Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott) starts a new job with Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney), Carla decides to promote Glenda Shuttleworth (Jodie Prenger) to manager.

However, her first shifts in charge prove to be difficult, as she informs Carla that she’s short staffed.

Will Carla be able to find someone to fill the gap Jenny has left, or will she be forced to go grovelling to her former step-mother?
