Coronation Street fans were left gobsmacked as the soap took an unexpected turn when Cassie Plummer and Steve McDonald got down to business.

Cassie (Claire Sweeney) made her debut on the ITV soap back in 2023 as the estranged mum of Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall).

And it didn’t take long for her to cause some drama. Last year, viewers were left shocked when Cassie started poisoning soap legend Ken Barlow (Will Roache).

The pair struck up an unlikely friendship when Ken needed caring for after he fell and injured himself. However, in a shock ploy to stay in his life as much as long as she could, Cassie poisoned Ken.

Things took a cheeky turn

What’s more, in a dramatic turn of events, Ken ended up being rushed to hospital after having a heart attack – and fortunately, he survived.

The truth then came out about Cassie’s involvement in Ken’s decline in health, leaving the community – including Tyrone – horrified.

However, Ken forgave her, and she has since moved back in with Tyrone.

The pair enjoyed some afternoon delight

What’s more, Cassie has recently rekindled things with Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) and has gone public with their romance.

And in Monday’s episode (August 18) the pair enjoyed a little afternoon delight – only to get caught by Tyrone.

After losing Tyrone’s son Dorin last week, Steve headed found to make it up to him, with some beers. But with the house empty, Cassie soon suggested they get down and dirty.

Fans were left shocked

Feeling frisky, the pair started having sex – however Tyrone ended up walking in on them, leaving him traumatised. And it wasn’t just Tyrone who was left gobsmacked as viewers were equally as shocked.

“Warning to viewers watching Corrie tonight, if you’re letting young children in on the viewing there’s Cassie and Steve caught in a compromising position,” said one person on a Corrie Facebook fan page.

Someone else chimed in: “It was gross! Not very appropriate.” A third then said: “Yes in the buff! I had to fast forward.” Another also wrote: “Think I might be scarred for life.”
