‘Come on!’ fume Coronation Street fan as they spot major phone gaffe during tense Roy Cropper scene

CORONATION Street fans have been left fuming after they spotted a major phone gaffe during a tense Roy Cropper scene.
The cafe owner is going through an incredibly tough time at the moment after becoming the police‘s prime suspect in Lauren Bolton’s disappearance.
Roy was the last person to see Lauren before she went missing and in recent weeks, he has been getting trolled from all angles as amateur sleuths try and find Lauren.
In the latest episode, Roy was upstairs in the cafe flat with Evelyn, Nina and Shona when Evelyn revealed Christian, the son of Roy’s late wife Hayley, had posted a nasty message on social media.
Roy was devastated to learn Christian had insinuated he had killed his wife – who had actually decided to end her own life after being diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer in 2014 – and that Lauren wasn’t his first “victim”.
But as Evelyn handed Roy the phone to look at the message, Coronation Street viewers immediately noticed a gaffe.
Taking to X – formerly Twitter – one wrote: “Come on, at least put the phone on. #Corrie”.
Another added: “Phone wasn’t even switched on? #corrie”.
A third tweeted: “it would help if the phone was actually on you could tell that was a blank screen”.
Meanwhile a fourth shared: “It would help if you turned the phone on.”
Indeed, as the phone was handed between the two characters and Roy started to look at the handset, its screen was completely black.
Roy was horrified by what he read and said: “This is beyond the pale. A frontal assault on the memory of my wife, a travesty of our marriage.”
Later Roy became emotional as he opened up to Nina about what was happening.
“Tears don’t come easily and I will not waste them on bigots,” he told her.
“What Hayley and I had was sacred and inviable. Far beyond their reach or understanding.
“He had a hatred in his heart that not even the finest person that I’ve ever known could dislodge.
“As for his claims about her death, there is a kernel of truth. But as for his central allegation, that is not true.
“I did not actively help Hayley end her life and I want you to know that. I did love Hayley. I still love Hayley a great deal.”
