Just when Angie Best believed the hardest chapter of her cancer journey was finally behind her, the former model has revealed another unexpected hurdle.

The 74-year-old, who recently celebrated being declared cancer-free after months of intensive treatment, has shared an emotional update with fans, confirming that she still faces two liver operations before she can truly put the disease behind her.

“I’m Cancer-Free… But There’s One More Step”

Angie, the former wife of football legend George Best, was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer in January after doctors discovered the disease had spread to her liver.

Since then, she has undergone months of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and surgery, while also receiving complementary mistletoe therapy in Switzerland alongside her conventional medical treatment.

Last month, her son Calum Best delighted supporters by announcing that scans showed no active cancer remaining in her liver. Following successful surgery to remove the tumour from her colon, Angie herself proudly told fans she was finally cancer-free.

However, in a candid Instagram update shared on Thursday, she revealed that the journey is not quite over.

“I just want to clear something up,” Angie explained. “When I said I was cancer-free, I am—but the tiny areas in my liver, where the cancer had spread from my colon, still need to be dealt with.”

She went on to reveal that surgeons will perform two separate liver procedures to remove the remaining metastatic tissue.

“There are some small ones on the left side and some bigger ones on the right side. So I’ve got two little liver operations to do, and then I am done. Wish me luck—again.”

A Major Victory After Months of Treatment

The latest update comes only days after Angie celebrated the success of her colon surgery.

Speaking from hospital, she described how months of chemotherapy and immunotherapy had dramatically reduced what was once a 30-centimetre tumour into a tiny remaining section that surgeons were able to remove through keyhole surgery.

She compared the operation to “an interior designer moving the furniture around,” explaining that although her body had undergone significant changes, everything continued to function normally.

After several days on fluids and a carefully monitored recovery, Angie was overjoyed when doctors confirmed the procedure had been a success.

“I’m so happy because now I can officially say, with gratitude and love, that I am cancer-free and healing,” she said. “Now I’ve just got to get better.”

“I’ve got so much I want to do,” she told fans. “I’m going to reinvent myself at the ripe old age of 74.”

Calum later launched a fundraising campaign to help cover the costs of specialist treatment, allowing Angie to receive additional care in Switzerland alongside her NHS treatment in the UK.
