Coronation Street fans reckon iconic character is returning – but we have bad news

Coronation Street fans have been wondering if Kym Marsh is returning to the ITV soap.

The actress, singer and TV presenter, who is 49, played the role of Michelle Connor from 2006-2019.

The star has gone on to appear in a variety of different dramas since leaving Corrie, and also has a regular role in Waterloo Road.

At the moment, Kym is in theatre land, starring in the production of Single White Female, which is based on the psychological thriller from the 90s.

Recently, Kym fell ill which meant her understudy Anna Ruben had to step into her role as Hedra in the production.

She shared the development on her Instagram Stories, but fans of Kym couldn’t help but wonder if maybe the actress was also away from theatre to film as another one of her characters. Specifically, Michelle Connor.

Taking to social media platform X, Corrie audience members began wondering if Kym would return to the ITV soap soon to feature in the wedding storyline with Carla Connor (Alison King) and Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers).

‘DOES THIS MEAN WHAT I THINK IT MEANS? tell me i’m not being delusional!!!!! MICHELLE AT SWARLA’S WEDDING???? a bit of a coincidence to be off sick on that day specifically!!!’, one user wrote in excitement.

Elle wrote as they wondered: ‘this is the first time i’ve seen something that’s made me genuinely pause and think there’s a chance’.
