Coronation Street Lisa and Carla wedding first look as Roy makes moving gesture
A preview of Lisa Swain and Carla Connor’s wedding has been revealed to The Mirror by Coronation Street.
The characters, known as Swarla by their adoring fans, finally tie the knot next week. A first look as revealed the moment they first see each other in their wedding outfits.
Wowed, the pair stare lovingly into each other’s eyes with Lisa’s daughter Betsy Swain and Carla’s father figure Roy Cropper by their sides. As they take everything in ahead of heading down the aisle, Roy makes a moving gesture that leaves Carla choked up.
As the clip starts we see Lisa and Betsy on one side of the aisle, and Carla and Roy on the other. As Lisa and Carla vow to walk down the aisle “together”, Lisa says “like always”.

In that moment, Roy gets something out of his pocket and Carla gasps. It’s his late wife Hayley Cropper’s bracelet, and he decides Carla should wear on her big day.
Carla, who was close with Hayley, is visibly emotional by the gesture as she accepts it. Roy mentions it was Hayley’s favourite bracelet, as Lisa and Betsy smile over his gift.
In a humorous moment he’s quick to make it clear to Carla it’s just for the day, and he’ll be wanting it back. As Carla says she can’t accept it, he quips it’s not a permanent gift, and it’s simply her .something borrowed’.
They all laugh, before Betsy adds it’s “also something borrowed and something blue”. As she notes Carla just needs a something “new”, Carla turns to her soulmate and shares she already has that sorted.

She tells them: “Well, I’ve got that right beside me. Haven’t I?” Lisa’s touched by this, as the duo prepare to get wed, with Betsy asking if they’re ready.
With that, they look to the future as they walk, hand-in-hand, down the aisle. Carla’s nephew Ryan Connor soon joins them, as he, Roy and Betsy all walk behind them.
Lisa actress Vicky Myers and Carla actress Alison King both told The Mirror about Swarla’s love story. “Carla loves Lisa Swain because she’s like sweet and sour and she sees that in herself as well, so she likes the vulnerable side, and the fact that Lisa has shown that to her,” said Alison.
“Lisa was a huge turning point for her. The fact that she liked her, like that, is everything, really. It was the person, not the gender, that didn’t come into it. They don’t need each other. They chose to be together.” “There was something instantly between the two of them,” added Vicky.
