ITV Coronation Street’s Betsy Swain ‘kidnapped’ in dark DI Costello twist
Coronation Street fans believe that Betsy Swain will be kidnapped in a dark DI Costello twist.
Soap viewers will know that Betsy (Sydney Martin) is the daughter of DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) and her ex-wife, Becky.
Fellow officer Becky was tragically killed after being struck by a vehicle whilst on duty back in 2021.
In recent scenes, Lisa and Betsy moved into number six with Lisa’s partner, Carla Connor (Alison King), as well as Carla’s nephew, Ryan (Ryan Prescott).
On Wednesday (September 3), Lisa and Carla romantically got engaged outside Underworld, with several locals heading to the Rovers to celebrate.

Later, Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) was taken aback when Lisa mentioned how Logan Radcliffe (Harry Lowbridge) gave Carla a dead-end lead about Tia Wardley.
Kit then called the prison and found out that Logan was segregated for fighting shortly after Carla’s visit.
As Kit looked up Tia Wardley’s name on his computer, DI Costello (Daon Broni) quickly appeared behind him and urged his employee to go home.
The police boss was later seen making an ominous phone call, saying: “DC Green’s been sniffing around, he’s got Tia Wardley’s name from someone.

“I found him online earlier searching her name alongside Radcliffe’s. Don’t worry, it’s in hand. Got a feeling DS Swain’s been whispering in his ear. She’s getting a bit too close for comfort. It’s okay, I’ll deal with Swain myself.”
The drama is set to continue next week as Corrie will air a horror twist on Betsy’s 18th birthday, as she finds herself at the scene of a dramatic car crash.
When Betsy walks through the Precinct, there’s a loud crash as a stolen car hits something. The youngster lets out a scream amid a terrifying moment.
Now, several Corrie fans believe that Costello orchestrated the car crash, and could kidnap Betsy to get revenge on Lisa.

“Maybe Costello takes her as it’s revealed he’s the bent cop instead of Becky so he can use Betsy as leverage,” one person wrote on Reddit.
Another added: “Oh good theory, or some kind of near-miss to scare her so that Lisa will tell Kit to stop digging.”
A third said: “I actually thought the same thing. Betsy will end up getting kidnapped by someone who is driving that car. Probably Costello.”
Meanwhile, a fourth fan shared an opposing view: “Can’t see Costello kidnapping Betsy, worst case he maybe tries to kill Lisa but all I want is happiness for Swarla going forward, so I don’t know.”
