Coronation Street Aggie Bailey star returns to TV after ‘going missing’ from ITV soap

Coronation Street’s Lorna Laidlaw, who played Aggie Bailey, has returned to TV screens.

The actress made her debut as Aggie back in 2019 along with the rest of the Bailey family, the first regular Black family on the ITV soap.

Aggie arrived with husband Ed (Trevor Michael Georges) and son James (Jason Callender), while Daughter Dee-Dee (Channique Sterling-Brown) then showed up a few months later.

And it didn’t take nurse Aggie long to become a firm favourite with viewers. She also played a part in some big storylines, including her beloved relationship with Ed.

However, Aggie was last seen on Coronation Street in June 2023 and then appeared to disappear off the face of the earth.

It was later explained that Aggie had gone to stay in Birmingham off-screen to care for her aunty who was not well and wanted a divorce from Ed.

What’s more, there has seemed to be no mention of Aggie since, something fans think is odd considering her daughter Dee-Dee’s traumatic storylines in the past year.

However, fans have recently come across Aggie actress’ Lorna TV return on the Channel 5 show The Good Ship Murder earlier this year. Lorna played Suzie Carter on the show and looked worlds away from her soap character.

On a Coronation Street Facebook fan page, one person uploaded. Photo of Lorna on The Good Ship Murder and wrote: “I guess Lorna Laidlaw is having more fun playing Suzie on The Good Ship Murder S2, E6 than Aggie Bailey. I recognised her voice before placing her from Coronation St.”

Meanwhile, last year, Lorna made a podcast appearance and finally discussed her experience on the show.

The soap nurse also added that she didn’t always feel happy with the way she and the rest of the Bailey clan were written. Her grievances included accent requests, and a lack of on-screen chemistry between her and Ed Bailey (Trevor Michael Georges).
