Coronation Street viewers are feeling down in the dumps as they reckon they’ve sussed out which cherished character is next for the chop.
The ITV soap has seen a significant cast shake-up of late. Soap supremo Kate Brooks dropped a bombshell last year, warning that several characters would be making their exit, much to the dismay of fans.
And 2025 has already witnessed a fair few farewells – including Yasmeen Metcalfe (Shelley King) who upped sticks for a fresh start in London, Max Turner (Paddy Bever), who was banged up for six years, and Craig Tinker (Colson Smith) who met a grisly end after a 14-year stint.
Meanwhile, soap stalwart Eileen Grimshaw (Sue Cleaver) also bid adieu to the cobbles after a quarter of a century, jetting off to sunnier climes in Thailand.

However, there’s still more upheaval on the horizon. In May, it was revealed that Daniel Brocklebank, who plays Billy Mayhew and joined the soap in 2014, had been given his marching orders, reports Leicestershire Live.
Now, fans reckon they’ve clocked the next star set to depart – and it’s not looking good for Carla Connor (Alison King). On a Corrie Facebook fan page, viewers speculate that Carla’s nephew, Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott), could be heading for the exit.

One viewer voiced their thoughts: “Ngl I wouldn’t be surprised if Ryan leaves eventually. He has no storyline, but there is plenty they could do with him. They just won’t give him anything,”.
Another viewer concurred: “I thought that too, he’s just there in the background it makes no sense.”
A third fan chimed in: “Oh I really hope not, he should definitely be given more stuff.” A fellow enthusiast also wrote: “You’re probably right.”

Ryan first appeared on the soap in 2006, initially portrayed by Ben Thompson. The character departed in 2010, only to return two years later for a brief one-year stint.
Fast forward to 2018, Ryan made his comeback to the cobbles, and he has been a mainstay ever since.
Throughout the years, Ryan has been embroiled in several pivotal storylines. From struggling with steroid abuse to being the victim of a horrific acid attack, his time in Weatherfield has been nothing short of dramatic.
