Coronation Street Maxine Peacock actress ‘hasn’t aged’ 22 years after getting killed off
Coronation Street’s Tracy Shaw, who played Maxine Peacock, was a staple on the soap back in the day – but where is she now?
Tracy shot to fame playing hairdresser Maxine Peacock on the long-running programme – making her debut in 1995. As the wife of butcher Ashley (Steven Arnold), Maxine was a firm favourite on the famous cobbles.
During her stint, she was involved in several dramatic storylines, including her one-night stand with Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson). She also had a baby with the local doctor – despite being married to Ashley.
However, in 2003 her time on the show came to an end when she was brutally killed by cobbles baddie Richard Hillman (Brian Capron). After returning home from the pub, she was struck with a crowbar by Richard in iconic scenes.
As well as Corrie, Tracy launched a short-lived pop career in 1998 – releasing songs like Ridin’ High and a cover of Lonnie Gordon’s Happenin’ All Over Again. She also won Rear of the Year in 1996.
Keeping herself busy, following her soap exit, Tracy has appeared on TV screens a few times, starring in Casualty and Doctors. Her most recent role was in the 2025 musical drama, Finding My Voice.
As for her personal life, Tracy previously dated actor and singer Darren Day. She married TV producer Robert Ashworth but they divorced in 2001. She went on to settle down with her childhood friend Ashley Poundall and they share two teenage sons, Louis and Luca.
And last month, Tracy celebrated her 52nd birthday and shared a stunning post to Instagram of her posing up a storm. Looking the same as her Corrie days, Tracy beamed in the videos, still rocking her iconic curly hair.
In the caption, she penned: “Yesterday I turned 52yrs. Thank you for all your amazing messages
Grateful to be alive, love, blessings to all who l’ve met on this journey, especially all sisters and brothers I’ve met since I was 30yrs old arriving into a wonderful fellowship of 12 step program.
“Thanks to the program of recovery, fellowship, friends, holy sprit, God I’m still alive and free from Many addictions, by the grace of GOD everyday I learn more, living in steps 10/11/12 everyday, one day at a time. Love, peace & Blessings.”
Fans were left swooning over the post and rushed to the comments section to dish out the compliments. One person said: “Happy birthday @tracy.k.shaw you look as fabulous as you did as a young Maxine in Corrie.”
Someone else added: “Stunning you never changed.” A third chimed in: “You look absolutely stunning darling! Literally the same as when I met you 30 years ago!”
